My Visit to Gidhar, Uttar Pradesh

Last October ( October, 2024), I had the chance to visit Gidhar, a small yet beautiful village near Lalapur, Uttar Pradesh. This place holds a special meaning for me - it's the village of my family's roots. Every visit here feels like a journey back in time, a refreshing escape from the chaos of city life.

Nature’s Beauty at Its Best

The first thing that struck me about Gidhar was its breathtaking greenery. The village is surrounded by hills, giving it a peaceful and attractive charm. The air was incredibly fresh, something rare to find in cities filled with honking and pollution. Mornings here were especially peaceful - the soft rustling of leaves and a cool breeze made every moment feel like a meditation session.

Development & Improvements

This time, I noticed significant improvements compared to my last visit. The Uttar Pradesh government has really worked on the village’s infrastructure, especially in the field of electricity. We had power for most of the time during our stay, which was a big change from the past. Road construction was also in progress, making travel more convenient for the locals.

How to Reach Gidhar

If you're planning to visit this hidden gem, the best way to reach Gidhar is via Shankargarh Railway Station. From there, you can take an E-rickshaw or a normal auto rickshaw to reach the village. Since Gidhar is a small village, there are no hotels or guesthouses. However, you might find some homestays in nearby Lalapur if you plan to stay overnight.

Staying Connected

Staying connected in Gidhar can be a bit tricky. BSNL didn’t work properly during my visit - it mostly stayed on 2G, and sometimes, there was no signal at all. Jio kept switching between 4G and 5G, which was decent for browsing and calls. I also heard from some locals that Vodafone (Vi now) had good network coverage in the area. If you’re planning to visit, it’s best to check your mobile operator’s coverage in advance.

A Place to Reconnect with Yourself

Gidhar is not just a village; it’s an experience. It’s a place where time slows down, where nature speaks, and where you can truly disconnect from the rush of modern life. Whether you want to spend time with family, enjoy the beauty of rural India, or simply breathe in fresh air and relax, Gidhar is the perfect getaway.

I left the village with a heart full of memories and a mind at peace. And I know that no matter where life takes me, Gidhar will always be a place I return to, even if just in my thoughts.
